Teixeira de Freitas and his urban mobility
Teixeira de Freitas finished the year 2013 with 43,858
vehicles running the streets and still receives daily traffic of neighbor
cities South of Bahia, Northeast North Mineiro and Espírito Santo. Certainly
there are many problems in the city and urban mobility that is needed
improvements, one of the problems is the lack of accessibility for disabled
people, such as the absence of ramps and special parking. Our group interviewed
the counter Cleomir Silva, who is a disabled.
BT Cleomir which the greatest
difficulty you have when driving your car in this city of Teixeira de Freitas?
The transit Teixeira isn’t one of the best to drive,
lack of organization, lack of returns and contours, signs, crosswalks, finally
the lack of a good design for urban mobility. The lack of respect of drivers
contributes to the disorder as well. In my case I’m disabled things are worse,
especially in relation to vacancies, or rather the lack of vacancies. Here in
Teixeira has almost no vacancies for disabled, which hinders locomotion, go to
the places and has no place to park or when the meeting is far from the
establishments. There are places that possess, but often other non-disabled
drivers use them, for inconvenience or lack of respect. It has a supermarket
here that has vacancies for the disabled, but they are so far away from the
entrance of the establishment that I can’t use them.
BT Do you think that lack of
planning rulers or owners of establishments?
Rulers, as the streets are public. So the obligation
is the secretary of transit available vacancies. But in the case where the
property offers parking, the owner must have not only a responsibility, but the
consciousness that some people have restrictions for walking and provide these
vacancies.
BT Where do you think you should
put more specific vacancies for disabled?
In the center and busiest places, where it has the
greatest difficulty in finding available positions by the large demand for
automobiles.

Yes, because my mobility is complicated, can’t
pass and walk everywhere, many motorcycles are parked in inappropriate places. Not only motorcycles, but
cars and bike also hinder mobility when stop in ramps.
BT And what should be done
in the city to improve the accessibility of the poor in relation to urban
mobility, in your opinion?
Provide restricted to handicapped spaces and the
construction of ramps. It is also important people aware and stop the stopping
vacancies for the disabled and ramps.
